Old photos are droplets of history, windows to the past, two dimensional recordings of things as they once were and can never be again.

As the old saying goes, every picture tells a story, and a photo is worth a thousand words.

Black and White photographs or Sepia photographs are something else, you can study the moments and say, “this was actually happening”. Often the faces convey silent messages of joy, sadness, hardship, misery, love, hope, all the emotions that drive us today. And you can feel a flash of empathy with someone long since gone.

Photos such as these demonstrate both our fascination for captured fragments of the past and that in some ways time travel is within the reach of us all.
